Dibbles Quarry Hike in the Catskills
The one mile hike to Dibbles Quarry is an enjoyable trek for folks of all ages, including children. The quarry itself offers lots to explore, including several stone thrones to sit back on and take in the magnificent view of Roundtop, Kaaterskill High Peak, and Twin Mountains, along with the Platte Clove valley.
The hike to Dibbles Quarry begins at the Roaring Kill Trailhead located on Roaring Kill Road. The trail climbs from the parking area, crossing a few seasonal streams before coming to the first trail junction with the Pecoy Notch Trail and the Mink Hollow Trail. Stay to the left and take the Pecoy Notch Trail, which will soon begin to climb more moderately, before leveling off and then following the same general elevation to Dibbles Quarry.
You’ll know when you reach the quarry, which is just after a short downhill section of trail. The trail traverses the open slope of the tailings from the quarry and at the top, you’ll see several stone thrones commanding a spectacular view of Platte Clove and the surrounding mountains.
Following your time at the quarry, it’s back the way you came - descending a mile back to the trailhead.
